Equity benchmark indices continued to trade in negative territory in mid-trading session. However, realty and banking stocks drove the market, despite weakness in metal and IT indexes due to US tariff concerns.

Sensex traded 208.48 pts or 0.26 per cent lower at 81,242.53, off the day’s low of 80,654.26, and Nifty 50 was down 43.45 pts or 0.18 per cent to 24,707.25. Smallcap stocks outperformed midcap stocks. Nifty smallcap 100 rose 1.18 per cent to 18,094.55, and Nifty midcap 100 was up 0.46 per cent to 57,685.55.

Realty and PSU Bank indices were up over 2 per cent intraday, while metal and IT indices were down 0.67 per cent and 0.64 per cent, respectively.

Top gainers & losers intraday

Shares of Adani Ports,Mahindra & Mahindra,Tata Consumer Products, Apollo Hospitals and Adani Enterprises led the gainers of Nifty 50 components, while Hero Motocorp, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, JSW Steel and Tata Steel dragged.

Auto stocks were in focus post monthly sales data. Hero Motocorp and Bajaj Auto shares traded nearly 1-2 per cent lower. Tata Motors and TVS Motors also slipped. M&M rose 1.67 per cent at the time of writing.

A total of 1,516 stocks advanced and 1,233 declined of all the 2,839 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange.

Shares of CDSL, Reliance Power, Karur Vysa Bank, Kfin Tech and Brigade Enterprises rallied 6-9 per cent among smallcap. 

Apollo Micro Systems, BSE, Cosmo First, CUB, DCB Bank were among the 57 stocks that hit 52-week high, while 35 stocks hit 52-week low. Nearly 94 stocks hit the upper circuit, including Aegis Vopak which debuted on bourses today. 91 stocks including Unimech, ITI. Zen Tech and Nibe.

On the BSE, shares of AstraZeneca, SPARC, Reliance Power, Bank of Maharashtra surged 7-12 per cent. MMTC, Spandana, Force Motors, Inox Green and ICIL slumped 6-9 per cent.
