Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced it will be setting up 4G mobile network for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), following receipt of an advance order of ₹2,903.22 crore on Tuesday.
“We wish to inform you that the Company has, on May 20, 2025, received an add-on Advance Purchase Order (APO) for ₹2,903.22 crore inclusive of taxes from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and annual maintenance of 4G mobile network at 18,685 sites,” said TCS in an exchange filing.
As per the filing, further details on the order will be issued by BSNL in due course subject to fulfilment of certain conditions and documentation.
Earlier, in January, K Krithivasan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of TCS, said the company’s deal with BSNL for rolling out 4G telecom network was “on track” with close to 70,000 sites already installed. Of these, about 60,000 sites are carrying commercial traffic. He envisioned difficulties for the last set of sites since these will be built in more remote areas.
